Central Methodist University has a special spring concert planned for Monday featuring two groups. The Brass Ensemble and the Church Street Boys will perform together on Monday, April 18th at 7:30 p.m. in Linn Memorial United Methodist Church on the CMU campus in Fayette.
Although both groups perform on their own, they often present formal concerts with other CMU musical groups. The Brass Ensemble has six players, including director John Perkins, a professor of music, Lucas Johnson, a senior music education student, Kody Bartel a freshman music student , Zack Fincher a senior music education student, Katelyn Hanvey, a junior music education student, Kyle Branson a senior music education student, and Leah Trammell a senior music education student. They will be joined in concert by Ethan Mann, a sophomore music education student, on timpani.
The Brass Ensemble was formed in 2012 and has performed the National Anthem for CMU home baseball games, statue dedications, on band and choir tours and in 2014, the group was selected to perform for the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Pennsylvania.
The Church Street Boys are an audition-only men’s vocal group comprised of 20 students. Many are music majors; however, that is not a requirement. The group is directed by Ron Atteberry, CMU adjunct professor of music. Members include Landon Ball, Adam Christal, Gannon Craig, Levi Gerke, Andrew Gordon, Malik Hughes, Michael Fincher, Zack Fincher, Stephen Meyer, Josh Miller, Anthony Mintert, Sam Pummill, Taylor Rouse, Aiden Smith, DaSean, Daniel Terry, Thomas Waggoner, Duane Watson , and Toby Yorks.
